How many years have you been in the industry?
I started 25 years ago and have been in business 14 years.
Tell us about your family:
I am married to Melissa Keating, Vice President of Operations, and we have four children, Christopher, Nicholas, Jack, and Katie.
Do you have any certifications, awards, etc that you wish to share the details about?
Graduate of Paul Smith’s College, located in the Adirondacks of New York and the Culinary Institute at Greystone in California. Member of the 2008 ACF United States Culinary Olympic Team and a recent triple GOLD MEDALIST in the Kochunhunst Austerlang, Erfurt, Germany. Culinary experience includes positions with Hyatt Hotels in Atlanta, Hilton Head and New Jersey. Traveled to Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and France to compete against other countries for top honors in cooking. Gained additional international expertise through a position at a Michelin 3 Star restaurant in France and in studies at the Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. Been featured several times on the Food Network and in many culinary and national publication.
What is it about your industry that holds your interest year after year?
I love to serve and make people happy!
What do you love about your industry?
The challenge in creating new concepts.
What sets you apart from others in the industry?
I am tenacious, detail orientated and strive to excel.
Why should a client hire you?
My Team and I become part of the family during the planning process. We do not look at people planning events as clients but, as guests and we are there to provide that very special thing called "Service"
What would you say is the latest trend in your industry?
Comfort foods with a twist, Dessert Bars, Small vessels and more variety.
Has working in the wedding business for a living changed the way you feel about or perceive weddings now?
Not at all. In fact most every wedding I have ever attended I found myself assisting the venue; such as cutting the cake, loading a buffet, etc.
Any advice for brides planning a wedding?
When exploring all parts of the wedding planning process be sure to measure apples for apples. There are vendors and venues that will lure you in with a proposal that is much lower than others and by the time the wedding is over, the family finds themselves over budget with all of the unknown add-ons. Research is the name of the game!
